Meet  Aura: The Resilient Latina Founder Behind Alora Cosmetics

Hi my name is Aura, I’m a proud Latina wife and mother of four. I’m the founder of Alora Cosmetics, an indie beauty brand built on the values of inclusivity and empowerment. My journey to success has been anything but easy. At just 17, my family lost everything, forcing us to split apart. Suddenly homeless, i found myself seeking shelter in streets, hospitals, and diners. Despite these hardships, a friend’s family offered to take me in and from that point on, I dedicated myself to building a stable future. Growing up in a traditional Spanish household, I often faced teasing about my appearance, with nicknames like "gorda" (fat) that deeply affected my self-esteem. As a plus-size woman, i struggled with feeling beautiful and often wanted to hide from the world.

It wasn’t until my senior year of high school that i discovered makeup, sparking a passion that would later transform my life. As time went on, life’s responsibilities took over. I became a mother and found myself juggling the demands of a 8 to 5 job, household duties, and raising my children. My husband became disabled due to actions in active duty service. He ended up having 5 back surgery. The strains of life made me feel so lost and disconnected. It wasn’t until my late 30s that i truly reconnected with makeup, realizing how it gave me  a sense of confidence and healing. Through makeup, I saw myself in a new light strong, beautiful, and worthy. Recognizing that the beauty industry often promoted narrow standards of beauty, I set out to make a change.

I founded Alora Cosmetics with the goal of creating a space where everyone could feel seen and celebrated. Today, Alora Cosmetics stands as a testament to my resilience and commitment to redefining beauty, proving that everyone is deserving of feeling beautiful.
